We had a great Valentine's Day, and was really excited to get out and go downtown. We've been in for over a week now, only getting out in the yard, and around Burke. Today, we went into DC to see Disney on Ice. We had a fun lunch at the Green Turtle and then walked around the block through China Town. Look at the one pic of the arch with the snow, and this is a week after the first storm, and 5 days since the second. I had wanted to have lunch in China Town, as it was the day before the start of Chinese New Year, but we decided to go to the Green Turtle which is attached to the Verizon Center. The show was great, and our seats on the 3rd row really made us feel like part of the action. We decided to come home and have dinner in Burke at our local Chinese restaurant, Ho's Dynasty. It's the year of the Tiger and we had a roaring good Valentine's Day! (Sorry I couldn't resist ;-})

Pinewood Derby
One of the highlights of the Cub Scout year is the annual Pinewood Derby. Harry, along with help from Grandpa and Dad enjoyed making his car. He won Best in Show last year for his Den and hoped to repeat again, this year. He didn't care if his car was fast, just good looking. Sadly, Harry didn't win Best in Show, nor did he have the fastest car. We all enjoyed the day and watching the race. I was the "official" photographer for the event, and took a photo of each boy with his car. I really enjoyed doing this, and one of the scout's Mom, Martha, took some excellent pictures, including a few of me! A fun day had by all.

Wooden Hawk GETS it DONE!!
The storm ended on Saturday afternoon, and as of 2pm today, we have yet to see a plow. Well, I looked out the front door and noticed that several of the men from the pipestem, and other neighbors in our cul-de-sac were out shoveling the street. I yelled to Subir and he didn't hesitate to get his gear on and get out there. It was amazing, and the view from our bedroom showed the results. It appeared to look like a wagon wheel with several spokes to our drive-ways. Later, on the 11pm news, one of the stores was about the fact our street had not seen a plow. Wooden Hawk is famous, friendly and know who to GET IT DONE!! Thanks to all, and especially to the guy who drove Subir to the grocery store for more soda. We had plenty food, but I can't get by as well without my daily fix of Coca-Cola!

The days after...
The sun came out, the sky is blue, BUT the snow is sticking around! The past few days were about digging out. David LOVES to be out with Dad, and up to the neighbors. Harry has been hanging out more at home, but has been out every day just to see the progress. In one of the pictures you will see a tree has fallen on the new deck and screened in porch. And, the weather advisory is now a warning and possible Blizzard conditions. When did we move to Milwaukee?

S-N-O-W!!! In a word...
We are having a Winter in Burke this year... we've had snow on the ground since December 19th, and I think it may be her until March 19th... This is an "epic" snow as Harry said, and whatever name you want to give it, it's going to take its place in the history books. Subir dug a path out to the cars and the end of the drive-way, but it was still snowing, today. Tomorrow, will be the BIG DIG OUT! And, then the BIG GAME!
